I feel like it has been a long time since I have last wrote a post and yet the weeks seem to fly by all in one. My internship with APM came to a finish one week ago and I still can't believe how quickly this past week flew by. Monday we had our Academic Orientation as we always do; ComCad and Career Services filled our class in on what to expect this semester as far as regimental positions and career workshops. I had my first classes Tuesday. I am taking 6 classes this semester, but all of them are very interesting. I am taking a new class offered by Dr. Palmer called the Brain, Narrative and Self and it is a class that sounds like it is going to be about connecting a sense of self to how our brain tells a story. We did an exercise where we put our hand in a bag so we couldn't see it and then had someone else stroke a paintbrush against the rubber hand and our real hand at the same time and our mind was supposed to trick us to think that the rubber hand was ours because we could see that it looks like our hand and is feeling the same sensations. It worked on some and not on others, but the connection was interesting. On Thursday we also had a Career Workshop for those of us hoping to go on an internship this summer as well. It was a briefing all about what to do with the companies and who we would like to work with. Let's hope I get to travel abroad this summer!
